Explore Wisconsin’s only National Scenic Byway
The Wisconsin Great River Road is arguably the best scenic drive in the Midwest. Travelers along this winding National Scenic Byway will enjoy towering bluffs, stunning vistas, 33 unique communities and a rich history.
Every turn in the road brings a surprise, from soaring bald eagles to historic main streets straight out of a storybook. You’ll have a chance to see riverboats pushing gigantic barges up the river channels and through five different locks.
You’ll visit river towns like Potosi, Cassville, Prairie du Chien, La Crosse and Pepin. These historic communities were home to some of the earliest European settlers in the area and are each destinations in their own right.
