Wild Wisconsin Winter Walks: Three Places to Snowshoe

The Kettle Moraine State Forest north of West Bend offers a number of trails. Some of the best are the Greenbush Mountain Biking & Snowshoe Trails. Four trail loops weave their way through the hills and valleys of this unique landscape. It’s a great place to give your snowshoes a workout.

Snowshoeing in Boulder Junction

Lumberjack Trail in Boulder Junction is a great place for a walk in the woods. Snowshoers can trek a 4.6-mile trail loop and a 12.5-mile loop through some of the Northwoods’ most beautiful woodlands. Keep your eyes peeled for some of the area’s white deer. Once you’ve seen one of these rare, albino creatures, you’ll never forget it.

The Rhinelander area offers dozens of trails. Snowshoers shouldn’t miss the Almon Park Trail, a 2.25-mile walk along the shores of Buck Lake. The trail is level and well-suited to the novice snowshoer.
