Fall is an ideal time to enjoy Wisconsin. As trees turn dramatic shades of red, yellow and gold, local communities throughout Wisconsin put on festivals and events that are a cornucopia of fun. Black River Falls
Fun fall events: Bruce Mound Fall Color Chair Lift Ride
The scoop: On Saturday, Oct. 10, the chair lift at Bruce Mound in Merrillan will be open to give visitors a dramatic fall ride. Enjoy a unique panoramic view of the area’s stunning fall colors. Rides will take place from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Fun fall events: Halloween
The scoop: Land O’ Lakes puts a Northwoods twist on classic small town Halloween Fun. From 12:30-3 p.m. on Oct. 31, kids can go trick or treating throughout the Land O’ Lakes area. Meanwhile, down at the Land O’ Lakes Library, there will be a Boo Bash from 1-3 p.m. that features games, treats and spooky stories for kids. Show off your costume at the Halloween Party – it takes place at 8 p.m. at the Gateway Lodge.

Fun fall events: Fall Gift and Craft Show
The scoop: This Oct. 10-11 craft and gift show in Onalaska is not just any show – it’s one of the longest-running shows in the region, drawing more than 100 exhibitor booths. Get a big jump on your holiday shopping by selecting from some amazing and unique handmade gifts. Vendors sell seasonal décor, tasty treats and snacks, homemade spices, soaps, lotions, jewelry and more. Entry is free but food donations are welcomed.

Fun fall events: Downtown Dash
What it is: The Downtown Dash in West Bend is a chip-timed 5k run that winds on a closed course through historic downtown West Bend. The race features awards for top finishers as well as the best Halloween costumes. There’s also a special treat for finishers aged 21 and over – Bloody Marys at the finish! Lace up your shoes and head to Old Settler’s Park on October 18.

The Scoop: This Rusk County community hosts a vibrant farmers’ market on Friday afternoons throughout the fall. Purchase delicious fruit, fresh vegetables and more from this outdoor market. Don’t forget to pick up a pumpkin!
