Fall for unforgettable art

It’s the perfect time of year to enjoy the beauty of Wisconsin art. Wisconsin is home to some outstanding creative talent – artists who work in ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and crafts. Make plans now to experience a fall art getaway – you can admire fall colors and discover the best works of Wisconsin artists. Just save some room in the trunk – you’ll likely find a few pieces worth taking home.

Art walks
Wisconsin has beautiful outdoor art that’s a perfect excuse to take a fall stroll. The Stevens Point Area is home to the Stevens Point Sculpture Park, a beautiful 20-acre site shaded by towering pines. The park features the work of more than two dozen local, regional and national artists. While in Stevens Point, check out the downtown murals, which depict residents past and present. You can also find outdoor murals can be found in Rusk County, located on the beautiful Flambeau River. Or, check out Boulder Junction’s brand new downtown mural!

Fall art fairs
You don’t have to look far to find an arts and crafts fair this time of year. These fairs are great places to find something special – you can get a jump on your holiday shopping or just find something special for yourself. Two places that host a nice assortment of fall festivals are Oneida and Vilas counties.

Museums and galleries
Fall is the perfect time to tour Wisconsin’s art galleries and museums. For Wisconsin art, there’s no better place to visit than the renowned Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) in West Bend. It is home to a massive collection of Wisconsin art, including the largest collection of works by acclaimed artist Carl von Marr, who was born in Milwaukee in 1858. Private galleries across Wisconsin showcase additional modern day talent and pieces that may be perfect for your home.

Fall art tours
From September 30 – October 2, Hidden Studios Art Tour takes place in the Stevens Point Area. The free self-guided tour features eight studios and 20 artists. On Oct. 7, 8 and 9 many of northern Wisconsin’s finest artists will open their doors of their private studios and galleries for the 16th annual Northwoods Art Tour. A free, self-guided tour will lead you to artists across the Northwoods, including Oneida and Vilas counties.
