Black River State Forest – Wilderness Explorations in Black River Country

The Black River State Forest is one of Wisconsin’s wildest places. The state forest and surrounding county forests form a vast area of woodlands that supports everything from wild turkeys to wolves. Winding throughout the state forest, you’ll find 25 miles of outstanding cross-country ski trails. McNaughton Trail – Breathtaking Views in Boulder Junction

Running for ten miles through breathtaking forest scenery, the McNaughton Trail is one of the best trails in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. The trail is groomed and tracked for traditional skiing, with one section groomed for skate-style skiing. It’s a great beginner trail, presenting very few hills.
