Ten Ways to Cool Off in Wisconsin

Looking for a way to beat the summer heat? Here are ten ways to get cool this summer in Wisconsin.

Swimming at Sunset Park

  1. Walk in the woods – It’s cooler under a canopy of leaves. Find more than 20 trails in Oneida County.
  2. Go for a swim – The swimming pond at Regner Park in West Bend might be the best place to swim in the state.
  3. Take a canoe trip – Paddle Rusk County’s Chippewa, Flambeau, Jump and Thornapple rivers.
  4. Go shopping – The small resort communities of Vilas County offer interesting shops and galleries.
  5. Enjoy air-conditioned dining – Enjoy food from a variety of talented chefs in Middleton’s more than 70 restaurants.
  6. Get ice cream – Cool off with some ice cream and other tasty treats from A’la Mode in Rhinelander.
  7. Jump in the lake ­– Sunset park in the Stevens Point area is the perfect place for a swim.
  8. Dine on the riverbank – Park your boat or take a stroll up the newly renovated Riverwalk and enjoy dinner at Fratello’s, a brew pub in Oshkosh located right on the Fox River.
  9. Take a dive – Go diving in Wazee Lake, Wisconsin’s deepest lake, located near Black River Falls.
  10. Pedal and plunge – Take a bike ride down the Crystal Lake Trail in Boulder Junction and end your journey with a plunge into the clear, blue lake.
